Have you ever seen a Jackal? There are three kinds of them. Side Striped Jackal, Golden Jackal, and a Black Backed Jackal. Jackals are similar to the coyotes of North America. These animals have sharp canines to hunt for various sized prey and a long leg that carries them fast to places. Lets see some facts about the three types of jackals:
Side Striped Jackal:
* The Side-striped Jackal is a medium sized animal and is little larger than the Black-backed Jackal. Its pelt is of a shade of gray.
*Theirs tail is black with a white tip.
*The food for these animals changes with location and season.They tend to feed on small animals during wet months and rodents in the dry months. They even eat fruits!!
*These particular jackals can be found mainly in central and southern Africa.
Golden Jackal
*These species of jackal are the medium sized among the jackals. These animals are similar to wolves. The color of their fur changes with season and location.
*They have tails that are shorter and bushy compared to the other variety of jackals.
*These jackals eat any kind of animal from rodents to fish. They eat fruits and live near water during summer.
*The golden jackals are found in a wider region across the globe. They can be spotted in the northern Africa, Europe, central Asia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and parts of IndoChina.
