How People Celebrate New Year in Sydney, Australia

Sydney probably celebrates January 1st the best and is one of the first cities to welcome the New Year. More than two million people come to watch the amazing fire crackers. They do awesome fireworks above the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. Although the show only lasts about 12-25 minutes, you can see amazing, different varieties of fire crackers (and music to go with them). After you watch the show, it is really hard to say that you didn't enjoy it. Many people agree that Sydney has the best fireworks in the world.

How People Celebrate The New Year in Tokyo, Japan

Have you ever heard that some countries celebrate the New Year earlier than usual? Well, it's true. In Tokyo, Japan, people celebrate the New Year on December 29th untill January 4th. Most of the places that tourists visit are closed but restaurants and clubs are filled with people of all ages. A watch-night bell, an analog to a countdown, rings 108 times all over Japan symbolizing getting rid of unhappiness and bad spirits.  People in Japan also crack fireworks.

How People Celebrate the New Year In England

Clocks symbolize the move that happens at the strike of midnight on this occasion, a clock in London called the Big Ben is featured. It's chimes can be heard thirteen times. And of course, the fire works!! People in London crack them above a large ring standing up called the London Eye. And more than two hundred thousand people across the United Kingdom come to watch the beautiful display of fireworks.

How people celebrate  New Year in Canada 

New Years Day is a popular celebration in Canada. The people in Canada believe that New Year brings good luck and fortune. In large cities like Toronto and Montreal, there are large celebrations with music and fireworks are usually held at midnight. Other popular New Year's Eve celebrations like late-night partying are also popular celebrations in these cities and other places around Canada. In some areas, such as in rural Quebec, people ice fish and drink with their friends until the early hours of January 1.

How People in Brazil Celebrate The New Year

New Year in Brazil is known as Ano Nove (Portugeese) better known as Revillion. Like Tokyo, lots of people pack into party halls, clubs, and other public places. On January 1st, it is a tradition to eat lentils and rice. It is said to bring good things and good luck. Iemanja is one of the many festivals that the Brazillians have. They all dress in white and give white flowers and gifts to Iemanja`, the goddess of water in the Brazilian Umbada religon. (Don't forget the fire works)
